Positive destruction for growth

Change is scary, and for some people it can be downright terrifying. Especially when business is ticking along, short term goals have been achieved and the bills are paid. But complacency doesn't lead to growth.
Thinking about change for growth can be outside of our comfort zone as the known is much more comforting than the unknown. Lots of management theories talk about the motivating factors leading to change but in reality, when things are going ok, there can be a block to the next stage of growth for the business due to comfortable inertia.
A handy analogy, however, is that of a seed. The seed is a self contained ecosystem. However, to grow from something small into something mighty the seed must literally take the core of itself and destroy its outer limits. The impetus for this change is a combination of internal and external factors. Internally there is a biological driver for expansion and externally the conditions for sustained growth ( water, soil, light) need to be managed to present the best opportunities for critical expansion.
If you have the desire to grow and take your business to the next level, think about what external factors can help you and what drive you can harness from within. It can be scary to think about shattering the current mold but by having a clear picture of where the business can go, it can help shape that growth.
